Tropical Storm Ingrid has increased in strength over the past six hours or so, and its maximum sustained winds are now blowing at nearly 45 mph, according to the latest report from the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Ingrid formed in the Atlantic Ocean overnight, and continues to churn about 750 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. It is expected to weaken over the next day or two.
This is the ninth named storm of the season, and it follows closely on the heels of the third hurricane, Hurricane Humberto, which is third hurricane of the season, which is still dropping rain as a tropical depression across the Southern U.S. The latest federal forecast calls for:
