More than 40 notices have been issued to recall 170 million pieces of children's jewelry because of high lead content since 2003. Consumer Reports Safety Blog debuted a new "e-catalog" that features a comprehensive list, including photos.

"Most of the recalled jewelry involves necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and other baubles that were purchased in vending machines or in discount and dollar stores -- places where recall notices are not generally seen," the blog reads. "Since the recall notices are hard to find, we think few parents are aware of the dangers lurking in their children's jewelry boxes."

Lead can interrupt the normal development of the brain, and its effects are irreversible. Lowered IQ is among the results of over-exposure to lead. To visit the blog, click here.
