Fast on the heels of a similar July insurrection, the Mexican rebel group that calls itself The Popular Revolution Army attacked pipelines carrying oil and gas, resulting in six separate explosions.
While short-term oil or gas price increases or supply interruptions in the United States are expected to be barely noticeable, increased unrest in one of America's top oil trading partners is another sign of the peril facing the energy supply that drives the country's way of life.
In separate news two weeks ago, Saudi Arabia increased the number of forces guarding their own pipelines and oil fields from a force of 5,000 to 35,000. Many experts aver that increased conservation along with greater fuel efficiency in cars and trucks are necessary steps to avert an energy emergency in the United States.
