Superstar Brad Pitt is becoming well known in green design circles, bringing his passion for sustainable architecture with his ability to generate dollars and interest, helping to get projects off the ground in places like Katrina-ravaged New Orleans.
Now, it's encouraging to hear that some of the orgy of building going on in red-hot Dubai will also have some green themes.
Zabeel Properties has announced that it will be working with Pitt and L.A.-based architecture firm GRAFT to bring sustainable features and social responsibility to its new 5-star, 800-room hotel and resort complex in the United Arab Emirates.
The Zabeel project, which is awaiting announcement of a precise location in Dubai, will according to the developer "display our uncompromising focus and commitment for developing high quality and environmentally sustainable real estate in this region."
The firm's announcement that it will be seeking at least LEED gold status for the Dubai project helps ensure that it will be the real deal in green building. Hopefully with Brad Pitt's name attached, it will help be a true model for sustainable design in the desert hotspot.
