Star Will Remake Greensburg, KS, As An Eco-Model Town, Following Destructive Twister It has green in its name, it's in the middle of America, and it badly in need of rebuilding. Leonardo DiCaprio aims to bring his 13-part series, "Eco-Town," Discovery Channel series to Greensburg, KS with the aim of rebuilding the town as a "sustainable model of eco-living and one that will save it from future environmental catastrophe," according to
published reports. The Website for the Town of Greensburg, KS bears this startling introduction: "On May 4, 2007 at approximately 9:45pm CDT, Greensburg was almost completely destroyed by an F5 tornado. The information you see on this website is basically now historical." Indeed, the museum that housed the largest pallasite meteorite ever found, the world's largest hand-dug well and the soda fountain at the Hunter Drug Store -- all of which figure prominently in the recent history of Greensburg -- were destroyed or obscured when the tornado tore through. How the 1,500 former residents of Greensburg have react to DiCaprio's choice is an unquestionably important factor in the success of the TV series, but as of now they are asking for help, and the eco-conscious star is offering it in a big way.
