Greentree - this is in response to your entry. I'm the person who gave tree saplings to our wedding guests. Please check out: www.treesfortomorrow.com The organization is located in WI but does SHIP saplings to AZ. It's just an additional $5 shipping charge for your state. Some of the pines they grow might be NATIVE to your area, and many of them require full or partial sunlight. And the best part is (if you decide to give them as favors) they are ONLY $1 PER SAPLING! I'm telling you, our guests absolutely LOVED them as gifts!

Trying to make a Green wedding in Sept. 2008

If there is anyone that knows of good ideas for wedding favors, decorations, food, etc. I would really appreciate some input. I liked the idea of the pine tree saplings from ebremser. We live in Tucson, AZ, so maybe I can use a native plant. Any other info would be nice :o)

Green Guest Favors

My husband and I were married in July of 2007 in Wisconsin. We tried to keep our wedding as green as possible. My FAVORITE green idea was to give each of our guests a pine tree sapling as their favor. We ordered them fresh from a local tree farm a day before our wedding. We wrapped them in paper and tied miniature recycled paper notes (with the guests name and a little saying) with raffia to each one. As guests sat down for dinner the little saplings were placed next to their plates. People LOVED the idea and were excited to plant the tree in their yards and also be reminded of my husband and I in years to come as the tree grows!
