I use the thickest pieces of bread I can find for this. Challah works well.

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup whole milk
3 eggs
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
a pinch of cinnamon
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 slices of thickly-sliced challah bread

PREPARATION
1. Whisk the milk, eggs, maple syrup, and cinnamon together in a large bowl.

2. Melt some of the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.

3. Dip the bread in the egg batter and cook until the underside of the bread is golden brown. Turn and cook the other side the same. Do this with the remaining bread slices.

4. Serve the french toast hot with more butter and maple syrup.
